Root Canal Treatment

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root Canal Treatment, also known as Endodontic Treatment, is a dental procedure in which the diseased or damaged pulp (central core) of a tooth is removed and the inside areas (the pulp chamber and root canals) are filled and sealed.

What are the benefits?

Root canals are performed to remove the damaged nerve in a tooth that is causing infection and pain. Patients will experience relief from pain once the root canal is performed.

How is Root Canal treatment done?

An opening is made through the top part of the tooth. Root canal files are used to clean and shape the inside of the canals and prepare the root canal for a final filling material. During the process, a cleansing solution is used to help clean out any remaining bacteria or tooth debris. The tooth is then filled with a temporary filling material. The tooth will need to have a final restoration, such as a permanent filling or a crown to restore it to a functional stage.
