What is it?
Veneers are a thin shell made out of porcelain or composite material. They are custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth.
What are the benefits?
Veneers hide discoloration, brighten teeth, and generally improve your smile. Veneers are a wonderful smile makeover option providing dramatic and long-lasting results.
How is it done?
To prepare a tooth for a veneer, the doctor will remove about 1/2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is equivalent to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, we will discuss the need for a local anesthetic to numb the area. Next, we will make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which in turn constructs your veneer. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks for us to receive the veneer back from the laboratory. For very unsightly teeth, temporary dental veneers can be placed for an additional cost.
